Tastes & Tales Food Tours was founded in summer 2024 by Elizabeth Fernley, a woman, veteran, and local business owner.
Meet the Founder & Owner
Born in St. Petersburg, Florida Elizabeth Fernley grew up exploring the woods and waters of Crystal River as a kid, fostering a deep love for the area’s natural beauty. Since 2013, she has proudly called Citrus County home. A U.S. Air Force veteran trained in the culinary arts; Elizabeth later earned a master’s in strategic public relations from George Washington University. With years of experience managing marketing projects and large-scale events in Citrus County, she developed a passion for showcasing local businesses.
Inspired by the vibrant culinary scene and the talented chefs in her community, Elizabeth envisioned bringing a food tour experience to Crystal River and Inverness. After seeing a food tour in another city, she asked, “Why not here?”—and the idea was born. Launching in summer 2024, her food tour is designed to highlight local restaurants and historic sites offering visitors and locals an unforgettable food and culture experience.
Since 2013, Rich Fernley has proudly called Citrus County home, drawn to its natural beauty, strong sense of community, and charming small-town atmosphere. A passionate advocate for local businesses and historic preservation, Rich has supported the Crystal River and Inverness food tours since their inception, helping to showcase the area’s vibrant culinary scene.
As a dedicated real estate agent in Citrus County, Rich specializes in both commercial and residential real estate in the Crystal River area. His commitment to serving the community extends beyond real estate—he takes pride in helping others discover the best of what this region has to offer.
