The Story Behind Tastes & Tales
Tastes & Tales Food Tours grew from a love of good food, local history, and the small businesses that give Crystal River and Inverness their character.
Founder Elizabeth Fernley grew up in St. Petersburg and spent time in Crystal River as a child before making Citrus County home in 2013. After years of working with local government and the county chamber she saw an opportunity to create something that brought together the things she loved most about the area-its food, its stories, and its people.
Tastes & Tales launched in 2024 to give visitors and locals a more personal way to experience Citrus County while supporting the restaurants, chefs, shops, galleries, and other small businesses that make these communities special.
Tastes & Tales is truly a family effort, made possible in no small part by the support of Elizabeth’s husband, Richard Fernley, who occasionally joins the fun as a guide and is always there behind the scenes.
