Wonderful surprise from my husband and two friends who joined us on Elizabeth’s Tastes and Tales Food Tour in Crystal River yesterday!! We got to experience an absolutely amazing variety of food, artists, galleries and the quaint town of Crystal River. Who knew so many talented people have created such a lovely place to visit. Every place was excellent, Cattle Dog Coffee Roasters, K&C Wine & Bistro, Norton’s Riverside Sports Bar & Grille (seafood!!), and Guyer’s Ice Cream and Doughnuts for dessert. Each one had a delicious gourmet tasting menu and special table set up for us. In between the food tastings, we visited numerous shops and galleries, all of whom offered warm greetings and beautiful items for sale. Learning about the history of this hidden gem was the special bonus to an already perfect day. Thank you so much Elizabeth for making my birthday a really special and memorable day!

A friend and I decided to surprise our wives with a birthday food tour of Inverness and we had a wonderful time. Elizabeth, our guide, was delightful – engaging, thoughtful, and well-connected to the community. She led us on a tour of four venues where we enjoyed local cuisine and beverages – all very tasty and delicious. She was even nice enough to help make the birthday surprise special with birthday sashes for the ladies and a birthday candle for one of our desserts. Interspersed throughout were nuggets of local history as we walked around the town. On a side note, if you arrive early for the tour to a quick flyby in the Old Courthouse Museum and you can garner a little Elvis history too! All in all, we had a wonderful time and for sure did not leave hungry! A sweet way to spend an afternoon.

Our neighborhood group of 16 booked Elizabeth’s Tour in Crystal River. The information about famous people who visited or filmed or built in Crystal River was a surprise for most of us. Elizabeth took us to Lemon Tree Gift shop first where you have an opportunity to see so may unique gifts many produced by local crafters. We also spent time in the Artisans Art Gallery (most of us went back to either of the stops after the tour because we had seen something to purchase). However, the highlight was the four restaurants on the tour where we were treated to such incredible food pairings. Trust me when I say, no one left hungry! We were treated to unique American dishes, BBQ, seafood, and home made doughnuts and ice cream. One example, The Cattle Dog is owned by a five star chef who brought his culinary skills to this quaint town. I highly recommend you book this tour for a fun, fabulous, food tour in the lovely coastal town of Crystal River.

When is the best time to visit Crystal River?

The Crystal River Food Tour runs year-round and is typically offered on Saturday afternoons, making it the perfect addition to a day exploring Florida’s Nature Coast.

Many guests enjoy pairing the tour with a morning manatee experience, especially during manatee season from November through April.

Known as the Manatee Capital of the World, Crystal River sees its highest number of visitors during the cooler months, when hundreds of manatees gather in the warm spring-fed waters. This makes winter and early spring one of the most popular times to visit.

In the summer, Crystal River draws visitors for scalloping season, offering another unique way to experience the area before enjoying a relaxing afternoon of food, history, and shopping.

The food tour lasts approximately three hours and includes just over one mile of easy, leisurely walking through historic downtown Crystal River. It’s designed to be a comfortable, social, and flavorful experience.

Our Crystal River Food Tour offers an elevated culinary experience featuring four carefully selected dining locations, each showcasing the very best of locally owned restaurants.

Crystal River’s growing food scene is defined by talented chefs and passionate entrepreneurs who take pride in quality, creativity, and authenticity. Every stop on the tour is thoughtfully curated to provide a refined yet relaxed dining experience.

Guests will enjoy a progressive journey across four distinct locations, which may include a chef-driven tasting with thoughtfully paired beverages, waterfront seafood dining overlooking Kings Bay, and hidden local gems known for their fresh, high-quality ingredients.

This tour is intentionally designed to highlight independent restaurants that prepare their dishes with care—there are no chain restaurants or mass-produced offerings. Each tasting reflects the character and craftsmanship of the local culinary community.

You may also experience authentic slow-smoked barbecue, a lively and well-loved tavern, and a final indulgence at a specialty donut shop and creamery.

While specific locations may rotate to ensure seasonality and variety, every tour consistently includes four unique and satisfying culinary stops.

This is more than a food tour—it’s a thoughtfully curated experience of Crystal River’s coastal culture and rich history, where authentic flavors, local stories, and genuine hospitality come together in one memorable afternoon.
